Appreciation post: That time a sudden downpour hit a fresh pour in Tacoma...

We scrambled to cover it with poly and weighted the edges with 2x4s, but the finish still got a little pitted. Anyone have a better trick for a fast rain cover?

Yeah, that poly and 2x4 scramble is a classic panic move. I've had better luck keeping a couple of those cheap pop-up canopy tents in the truck for exactly this. You can get them over the pour way faster than trying to lay and weight plastic, and they keep the wind from getting under the edges.

That canopy trick is actually genius for beating the rain. Watched a crew try the poly sheet method last spring and it turned into a total mess, plastic blowing everywhere like a giant kite. Those pop-ups just seem way more stable when the wind picks up. Do they hold up okay in heavier downpours or is it more for a light sprinkle?

Saw a crew lose a whole slab to that plastic kite move last October. Your canopy idea is way smarter.
