Walked into a server room that smelled like a bakery, turns out it was the UPS
Last Friday I'm doing a routine battery swap on a customer's UPS in Fresno and I swear it smells like fresh sourdough bread. Turns out the batteries were venting hydrogen sulfide and the tech before me had written "sweet smell, check yeast" in the maintenance log. Has anyone else run into weird smells from dying UPS batteries, or did I just walk into the only server room that doubles as a bread shop?
