Pro tip: ditch the canned air for a $20 data vac blower
Spent last Tuesday cleaning out a dusty server room with canned air and ran out after 3 machines. Grabbed a Metro Data Vac off Amazon and finished the whole rack in 15 minutes flat. Anyone else switch to an electric blower and never look back?

Yeah honestly canned air is a scam and we all just accepted it for way too long. Like hey let me pay $8 for a can that lasts maybe 3 minutes and then freezes my fingers off. The Data Vac is basically a leaf blower for your electronics and I love that for us. I still keep a can around for the really tiny crevices but that's it. Nothing beats blasting a decade of dust out of a fan in two seconds flat. Plus you don't look like a total dork hunched over with a straw.

I paid $12 for a can of compressed air last week and used it for exactly 45 seconds before it was empty. I get that it feels like a rip off, but is it really that big of a deal? I mean, a Data Vac is what, forty bucks at least? And it takes up space in a drawer somewhere. I've been cleaning my electronics with canned air for twenty years and never froze my fingers off, you just don't hold it upside down. Plus for something like a keyboard or a tiny fan inside a laptop, a little straw works fine. I just don't see the need to get worked up over a can of air.
