Had a client in Phoenix who refused to believe his laptop was dead
He brought in a 2018 MacBook Pro with a swollen battery, and when I told him the logic board was fried from the pressure, he just said 'it was fine yesterday, just fix it.' Happened at my shop last Tuesday. Anyone else get customers who argue with basic diagnostics?

Had a guy bring in a laptop that smelled like burnt plastic and was visibly smoking. He insisted it just needed a new charger. My diagnostic skills felt so insulted I almost billed him for therapy. Sometimes you just have to nod and take their money when they finally accept the obvious.

Visibly smoking" made me laugh because I had a client bring in a toaster that was literally on fire and ask if I could just clean the crumbs out.

Man, that reminds me of the time someone brought in a desktop with a power supply that had popped like a firecracker. They were totally convinced it was just a bad monitor cable. The denial is real sometimes, like they're trying to wish the problem into being something cheap. You just have to let them come around on their own time, even if it's painful to watch.
