That time a bus driver told me my music was too loud and I switched to one earbud

He shouted it at 5th and Main last Tuesday, so now I only use the left earbud and watch the right side mirror for his bus, and it actually makes me more aware of stop announcements, has anyone else found one earbud better than both for listening but still catching your stop?

Left earbud works way better since I missed my stop twice with both in.

Ngl @patricia558 you might be onto something. I read this article last week about how our brains process audio differently in each ear, one side is better for rhythm and the other for speech. That would explain why one bud feels more tuned in for real world sounds like train announcements. Plus having one ear open probably keeps you more aware of your surroundings, so you catch the stop before it's too late. I tried the one bud trick on my commute after that and missed way fewer exits, it's kind of wild how much it changes things. Both in feels like you're in a bubble, but one in keeps you half in the real world where the train doors actually are.
