Appreciation post: my $12 neck pillow from an airport kiosk saved my 90 minute bus ride
I ride the 5:40am express bus from my place into downtown and it's about 90 minutes each way, so three hours of my day is basically spent on that seat. For two years I just dealt with my head bobbing around and waking up every ten minutes with a sore neck, which made the whole first half of my workday rough. Back in March I had a layover in the Denver airport and grabbed one of those memory foam neck pillows from a kiosk for $12 because I was exhausted and figured why not. That thing has completely changed my commute. I actually sleep for a solid hour now instead of dozing in and out, and I get off the bus feeling like a person instead of a zombie. The guy who sits across from me asked where I got it last week and I almost felt bad telling him it was just some random kiosk. It's funny how the cheapest thing I own does the most work for me. What's the one small thing you bought that turned a miserable commute into a decent one?
The "$12 neck pillow from an airport kiosk" part made me laugh because I always walked past those thinking they were junk for tourists. Turns out the cheap stuff sometimes just works better than the fancy version.
