Old vs new: how I used to clean my regs vs how I do it now
Back in 2018 I'd just dunk everything in freshwater and call it a day. Now I use a ultrasonic cleaner after a buddy lost his second stage to salt buildup on a 30 day Gulf job. Which way do you guys lean on gear maintenance?

Stick with the ultrasonic cleaner but only for the tricky bits. I went hard on one after a buddy's second stage locked up on a liveaboard trip. Now I soak the whole thing in warm water with a drop of dish soap first, then hit the critical parts with the ultrasonic. The rest just gets a dunk and a shake. People overthink it. Keep it simple but smart.
