Why does nobody warn you that a comic grading kit can turn your whole collection upside down?
I bought a $60 pressing and cleaning kit last week for my Uncanny X-Men run, and now I keep pulling books off the shelf to inspect them instead of actually reading them. What used to be a fun Saturday reread has turned into me squinting at spine ticks and stressing over 9.4 versus 9.6, which is the opposite of why I got into comics. Has anyone else let grading take over, and how did you get back to just enjoying the stories?
That line about squinting at spine ticks hits close to home, but honestly I don't see grading as the enemy here. Knowing my books are solid actually lets me relax and read them without worrying I'm wrecking something. Sounds more like you just went too hard too fast, set the kit down for a bit and the fun comes back.
