Wanted to be 'that guy' at cons with a huge pull list, been buying random #1s for 3 years

I finally realized I was just grabbing everything with a cool cover and never actually reading them. My buddy asked what my favorite run from the last 6 months was, and I drew a total blank. Anyone else waste money on hype books they never crack open?

oh man, i literally have a stack of #1s sitting next to my desk that i bought just because the cover art was sick and i never even took the plastic off lmao. it's way too easy to get caught up in the hype train than actually reading the stuff.

And that's exactly why I finally stopped buying single issues and switched to trades. I realized I was just collecting the first issues and leaving them bagged on a shelf like some kind of comic book garden gnome. You ever actually break one open and read it, or is it strictly a display piece kinda thing?
