That time a kid at the comic shop called me out on my pull list

I was standing at the counter last Saturday picking up my usual stack and this kid maybe 12 years old asked why I only grab the same three titles every month. He said "you're missing all the good stuff" and handed me a random indie book I'd never heard of... now I'm questioning my whole reading habit. Anyone else have a random stranger shake up their routine?

Three books a month is actually a pretty disciplined pull list, I respect that. But here's the thing, that kid probably wasn't wrong either. I got hooked on a weird horror comic called "The Plot" a few years back totally because a stranger at the shop said I was sleeping on it. Now I grab at least one random number one issue every trip just to see what's out there. Keeps the whole thing fresh without dumping your regular reads.

Oh man, I don't know if it's THAT deep, @rubysingh. Like, yeah, grabbing a random number one is fun and all, but if a kid at the shop told me I was "sleeping on" something, I'd probably just shrug and move on. I've done the random pull thing before and ended up with a miniseries about a haunted lawnmower that was just dumb. Not every suggestion is a hidden gem, you know? Most of the time it's just somebody trying to sound important about their hobby.

Yeah I totally get that, that's a good way to look at it!
