People keep calling the new Spider-Man run 'too political' and I think they missed the point

I keep seeing this online, especially about the latest Miles Morales arc where he deals with a corrupt landlord in his building. It's not 'political', it's just showing his life in Brooklyn. The character has ALWAYS been grounded in his community, that's the whole point of Spider-Man. Did anyone else feel like this criticism is just lazy?

Yeah, that "too political" take is just missing the whole point of the character.

What's Spider-Man without his neighborhood?

Isn't it weird how people forget the basics of a character? You see it everywhere, not just with Spider-Man. Like michael_jenkins39 said, his neighborhood is the whole point. It's the same when people get mad about a hero helping with small stuff instead of just big fights. They miss that helping the little guy is what makes them a hero in the first place. It's a bigger problem of ignoring the simple, human parts of stories. Makes the whole thing feel empty.
