I brought a friend to a comic con in Chicago and they got hooked on a book I never read

My friend from work (who doesn't read comics) came with me to C2E2 last month, and I figured they'd just look at the costumes. Instead, they spent an hour at a small press booth and bought the whole first volume of 'The Many Deaths of Laila Starr'. I've been reading superhero stuff for years and never picked it up, but they loved the art and the whole idea. Now I'm the one getting recommendations from a new fan. Has anyone else had a friend get into comics through a book you totally missed?

That "book you totally missed" feeling is the best part of sharing a hobby.

Honestly, that's how you find the good stuff sometimes. I've had that happen where someone I brought along gets fixated on a book I walked right past. Makes you go back and look at the whole shelf again, you know? Now you've got a perfect excuse to borrow their copy and see what the fuss is about. It's a cool way to shake up your own reading list without any effort.

Ever just hand them your library card and tell them to grab anything that catches their eye? Works like a charm for finding hidden gems.
