Had to pick between a mint Amazing Fantasy 15 or a down payment on my first house back in 2010

The comic was $50,000 at a convention in San Diego, and the house was a fixer-upper in Cleveland. I picked the house, obviously, but man, I still think about that book sometimes when I'm fixing a leaky faucet. Anyone else ever pass on a grail for a real-world reason?

My buddy sold his Action Comics 1 to pay for his kid's braces.

Imagine trading a piece of comic book history for orthodontics, man. That's the real world hitting hard. I've seen guys sell mint condition vintage toys just to cover a car repair. It puts a price tag on what we call priceless, you know? Makes you wonder what's really in the long boxes under the bed.
