DAE phone the hotel before a comic con trip?
I drove to a big convention and my booking was not in their system. Had to scramble for a last minute room that cost way too much. If you are traveling for an event, always confirm with the place directly. A quick call can stop this from happening to you. Pass it on to save your fellow fans some stress and cash.

Wait, how much did that last minute room even cost you?

My cousin paid $350 a night for a basic hotel in Chicago because he booked 48 hours out. The real trick is to search for hotels near the airport, not downtown. They often have way more rooms and lower prices when everything else is sold out. I saved almost half by staying by O'Hare and taking the train into the city.

Hotels are honestly a mess for any big event, not just cons. Same thing happened to me before a wedding last year, booked three months out and they had no record when I showed up. Now I call the day before and ask them to read my reservation back to me, saved my butt a couple times. It's like how you double check your boarding pass and seat at the gate, you just have to assume the system might drop the ball somewhere.
