That barista in Rome who remembered my order after 3 months

I stopped into this little place near the Pantheon called Caffè Tazza d'Oro during a layover and the same guy from my trip in March just nodded and started making my cappuccino without me saying a word. How do they even remember stuff like that when they see hundreds of people a day?

Ngl, that barista probably has a photographic memory for coffee orders but can't remember where he put his keys. Guess his brain has a dedicated folder for 'cappuccinos from the confused American.' He's just testing if you're worthy of being a regular.

Nah, I think he's just forgetful (like most of us).

Jumping off what josepha32 said, I bet his brain treats coffee orders like a separate operating system. Regulars get filed into a permanent archive while his keys fall into the recycle bin. It's probably the same reason I can name every cluster of trees on a 50-mile stretch but forget my own wedding anniversary sometimes. That barista's mental hard drive just prioritizes caffeine delivery over personal belongings.
