Sat next to a guy in a Seattle cafe who was writing a letter by hand, and it made me put my phone away for good

Remember that time my friend found an old love letter in a library book? It was so personal and sad, she ended up sitting there for an hour just holding it, completely forgetting she was supposed to be studying. Makes you wonder what that guy in the cafe was writing, doesn't it?

That bit about the love letter in the library book really got me. I read a story once about a guy who found a whole box of old letters at a garage sale, like from the 1940s. He ended up tracking down the family and returning them, and it turned out they were written by a soldier who never came home. It's crazy how these pieces of paper just float around, holding onto so much feeling long after the moment is gone. Makes you look at every stranger writing in a notebook totally different.

It's wild how much history can be hiding in plain sight like that.
