Showerthought: that $65 burr grinder upgrade kit was the biggest waste of my coffee money
I bought a $65 burr upgrade kit for my hand grinder back in March thinking it would fix my weak pour overs. Took me 3 weekends of tinkering with the burr alignment, chipped the outer ring twice, and the grind came out MORE uneven than before. Then a guy at the coffee meetup in Sacramento pulled out the same grinder with the stock burr and his cup tasted way better than mine. Turns out my issue was stale beans the entire time and I just threw money at a tool problem that didn't exist. Did anyone else chase a gear fix when the real answer was just fresher beans?
