I tried two ways to learn Python last winter and the boring one won
Last winter I spent $75 on a video course with lots of fancy animations explaining loops and functions, and after two weeks I could not write a single script on my own. Then I switched to just typing out tiny programs in the Python docs and breaking every one on purpose to see the errors, 20 minutes a night at my kitchen table in Rochester. The video course made me feel like I was learning but I was really just watching, while retyping and messing things up forced my brain to do the work. After a month of that I wrote a script that renames files in a folder and it actually ran on the first try. Has anyone else had a course feel productive but leave you with nothing you could build?
