Old timer at my shop changed my mind about coolant mist collectors

I used to think those mist collectors were a waste of money. Just an extra thing to clean and maintain. Then a guy named Frank who's been running Haas machines since the 90s showed me his setup at a shop in Toledo last year. He had this cheap little mist buster unit and his lungs sounded clear as a bell compared to mine. He said 'son, you're not just breathing coolant, you're breathing cancer' and that stuck with me. Anyone else have an old hand convince you to change a basic shop habit?

Whoa, hold on, is this really the comparison we're making? I mean, yeah, mist collectors are cheap, but acting like it's a straight trade-off for cancer treatments feels a little dramatic. Maybe it's just me, but the scale of things doesn't match up at all. A cheap tool for lung irritation versus treatments for a deadly disease? That's like saying a band-aid beats open-heart surgery because it costs less. Idk, it just feels like we're skipping a lot of steps in the logic here.
