Unpopular opinion: I regret spending $800 on a home solar battery
I bought a Tesla Powerwall last year thinking it would make me fully green and save money during blackouts. The install was a hassle, and after a full year, I've only used it twice for real outages (both under an hour). For the cost, I could have just bought a small generator and donated the rest to a local tree-planting group, which would have done more direct good. Has anyone else felt their big climate purchase was more about feeling good than actual impact?

Look at it this way, you got a fancy backup system that works without gas or noise. Two short outages might seem small, but that's two times your power stayed on without a hassle. A lot of people buy stuff hoping for a huge change and then feel let down by the quiet days. Maybe the real win is just being ready, not how often you use it.

Honestly, I get where you're coming from, but my battery has been a total game changer. We get a lot of short brownouts here and it keeps the fridge and internet running every single time. The peace of mind alone feels worth it to me, not just the big outages. It's not just about the number of times it kicks on, it's about never worrying when the lights flicker.
