My uncle said to skip the electric car and get a used hybrid instead
He told me last year that the battery production for new EVs in Michigan still uses a lot of dirty grid power, so a used Toyota Prius is actually a better move right now. I did the math on the carbon footprint and he was totally right, the impact was way lower. Anyone else get pushed toward a new EV but find a better option?

What about the carbon cost of building a whole new car though, even an EV? A used car already has that debt paid off.

My buddy in Austin kept his old truck for 15 years, but the repair bills and gas finally cost more than a new EV's footprint.

Guess his truck's carbon footprint was mostly from his wallet!
