I hauled every scrap of job site waste to the dump myself for 3 years, now I sort the foam and drywall into two bins and it takes 10 extra minutes
A guy at the supply counter in Tulsa told me last spring that my scrap drywall was going straight into the landfill anyway, so I started keeping a separate bin for it and now I'm wondering if anyone else separates their job waste or if I'm just making extra work for myself.
That Tulsa supply counter guy sounds like half the guys I talk to, full of strong opinions about where my trash ends up. I tried the two-bin thing for about six weeks and felt like a recycling hero until my helper pointed out I was sorting stuff into bins that the same truck picks up anyway. In my experience the extra 10 minutes only pays off if your dump actually takes the drywall separate, so maybe check that before you keep at it.
