Sorting chimney rods into dollar store bins was a total game changer

I used to have all my chimney rods and brushes thrown together in the back of my van. It was a mess, and I'd spend ten minutes just finding the right size for each job. So I bought a few plastic bins from the dollar store and some masking tape for labels. Now I have one bin for short rods, one for medium, and one for long ones. (I even color-coded the tape with a marker.) My brush collection sits in another bin, sorted by bristle type. This simple system has made my mornings so much smoother, and I'm not fumbling around at the client's place anymore. It's a small investment of time and money that pays off each day.

That color-coded tape must let you find the right rod quick, even when you're rushed.

Seriously? Calling this a game changer feels like a stretch. I see @jaken28 appreciates the color-coded tape, but it's just basic organizing. People have been using bins and labels for tools for ages. Sorting chimney rods is like arranging your kitchen drawers, it helps but isn't life altering. Sure, it makes your job easier, but let's not act like it's some huge innovation. It's a simple fix, not a revolution.

Ever stop to think about how long that setup took to figure out? Like, sorting every rod by length and type, then making a color code you'll actually remember when you're on a roof. That's not just putting stuff in bins, it's building a system that works under pressure.
