Finally got the hang of that tricky Victorian flue in the old district

For months I'd try to clean those narrow, winding flues with my standard brushes and just get stuck, wasting a whole morning. Then I watched a video from a sweep in Charleston and bought a set of those flexible poly brushes, and last week I cleared one in under two hours. Has anyone else found a better tool for those really old, tight chimneys?

Man, that feeling of finally beating one of those old flues is the best. Those things are a special kind of frustrating. Heard good things about those poly brushes from a few guys, glad they worked for you. It's all about finding the right tool for the job, even if it takes a while to figure it out.

Totally agree about finding the right tool. Sometimes you gotta try a few things before something clicks and gets the job done. That win makes all the frustration worth it.

Old flues can't be that big of a deal.
