Pro tip: my tire gauge died at a gas station off I-35 in Waco and a trucker's knock test got me home
The digital gauge read nothing after 2 tries last Saturday, so a guy in a Peterbilt showed me you flick the valve stem and listen for the hiss length instead, which told me I had enough air to make it the 90 miles back.
That "flick the valve stem and listen" trick is basically the whole old school vs new school thing in a nutshell. My grandpa could tell if a battery was dead just by how dim the headlights looked, no tester needed. There's something to be said for skills that don't need a screen or a fresh set of batteries.
