My cat walked across my keyboard during a serious chat with my insurance adjuster and I think it actually helped my claim

So I'm on the phone with State Farm last Tuesday, trying to explain how that tree branch fell on my fence during the storm. It's tense, I'm frustrated, and mid sentence my orange tabby Mochi just strolls across my laptop and somehow opens my photo folder on screen. The adjuster goes quiet for a second and then says 'Is that your cat? I think I see a paw in your photo. My cat does that too.' We ended up having a 10 minute chat about our pets and the whole mood shifted. I swear he was way more relaxed after that. Got my claim approved that same day. Has anyone else had a pet accidentally smooth things over during a call?

Oh that hits hard, I really feel for you. Losing a pet is one of the worst things and those little reminders can come out of nowhere. I hope you're doing okay and finding some peace with it all.

That's such a great story. I had a similar thing happen when I was on the phone with my landlord about a broken water heater. My dog kept whining in the background and the landlord asked if that was a puppy. @julia549 I totally get how those little moments can break the ice. We ended up talking about rescue stories for like 15 minutes and he sent a plumber out that same afternoon. Did you get to keep adjusting your claim while pet bonding happened?
