Watching carpet fibers spring up after a heavy couch left me with questions
I was finishing a job in a living room yesterday, and we had to move the couch back. The indentations from the legs were deep, but after a few hours, they started to fade. It got me thinking about how different carpets react to weight. Some bounce right back, while others seem to hold the shape forever. I've been in this trade for a while, but I never really dug into why that happens. Is it the pile height, the material, or something else? It makes me want to learn more about the stuff we work with every day. Maybe there's a simple trick to help clients with this.

You mentioned how different carpets react to weight, but is it worth stressing over? In my place, the carpet dents from my desk chair always pop back up by morning. If it's a low quality carpet, yeah, it might stay flat, but most people just live with it. We're talking about furniture indentations, not a permanent stain. Sometimes I wonder if we overcomplain about normal wear and tear.

Disagree because my rental's carpet still shows sofa dents from three years ago.

Watched my friend freak out over chair dents that vanished after a rainy day.
