Warning about that 'universal' carpet stretcher head I bought online
I wasted $75 on that 'Pro-Fit' stretcher head that claimed to work with any power stretcher. Tried it on a big job in a Denver split-level and it kept slipping off the tack strip, costing me almost two hours of rework. Has anyone found a good brand that actually holds up on stairs and tight corners?

Used to think they were all the same.

Yeah, it's like you only see the surface stuff until you dig a little. I got into the history of how they're made, and the small choices in design actually say a lot about what the maker values. Turns out the boring details are where the real differences hide.

Remember that friend who was so sure all hiking boots were basically the same? He bought the cheapest pair for a weekend trip. By the second day, the seam on the toe started to split because of how it was stitched. The guy at the gear shop later said that one brand always uses a double stitch there for rough terrain, but others skip it to save money. My friend ended up with wet feet and a whole new view on "small choices.
