Talked to a flooring inspector in Phoenix who said he's seeing a 30% rise in seam failures on new glue-down jobs

Wow, that's a huge jump. Is the inspector pointing a finger at anything specific? Like, is it a bad batch of adhesive from a certain brand, or are installers rushing the job in the heat? I've heard some glues set way too fast if it's over 110 degrees outside, and then the seam just pops later. Could it be that, or maybe a change in the flooring material itself?

Exactly, the heat is a huge factor but it's also about the prep work. If the slab isn't cooled down and cleaned right, the glue just cooks on contact. You get that false set where it feels stuck but the bond is already weak.

Yeah, the heat setting the glue too fast is a real problem. I saw a job last month where the seams failed in a perfect grid pattern, like the adhesive just gave up. The installer told me he was fighting the clock once the bucket was open.
