Shoutout to the old-timer at the Columbus trade show who fixed my kicker stance
I was at the carpet trade show in Columbus back in March and an old installer named Ray stopped me at the practice wall. He watched me kick a seam for about 30 seconds and then said my back foot was too far out, costing me power. He had me move it in maybe 4 inches and the same kick suddenly drove the carpet tight with way less effort. I've been doing it his way on 12 jobs since then and my knees feel a lot better at the end of the day. He also showed me how he trims the pad at doorways so it never bunches up under the carpet. Has anyone else had a random guy at a show totally change their technique like that?
