Actually, that kind of failure is pretty rare if you buy decent tools. Most stuff holds up fine if you don't abuse it. Could have been a flaw in that one piece, or maybe it was dropped before and the crack was already there. People are too quick to blame the product when sometimes it's just bad luck.

Man, that's brutal. Was it a cheap plastic handle or one of those supposedly heavy duty ones? I've had the cheap ones fail just from sitting in a hot truck.
