An old installer told me to stop using the same blade for every cut on commercial jobs

He said the second and third cuts were always off because of the blade wear, and I never thought about it. After I started swapping blades halfway through a 200-yard roll, my seams lined up way better. Anyone else notice their cuts drifting on long runs?

Yeah I used to think fresh blades were just wasting money till I tried it and saw the difference myself.

Huh, I hear you @claire_gibson, but I gotta say I see it a little differently. In my experience I can get a solid couple weeks out of a blade before it starts dragging, as long as I store it dry and do a quick cleanup after. Your mileage may vary of course, but I think a lot of folks swap them out way earlier than they really need to.

My buddy swore he could get a month out of a blade. One day he came over with a half-shaved face and asked to borrow my razor. Said his was pulling so bad it felt like it was ripping the hairs out. I handed him a fresh one. He stood there in my bathroom for a solid minute just feeling his face after. Next time I saw him he had a whole bulk pack of blades in his truck.
