Marking tapes changed how I do layout work

Back in the 90s I used a regular pencil and a 4 foot level for everything. Now I use a 100 foot fat tape with markings every 16 inches and it saves me a ton of time on floor joist layout. Anyone else ditch the pencil for a pre-marked tape?

Man that pre-marked tape is a game changer... once I switched I never looked back. Saves so much time not having to measure and mark every single joist bay.

Don't know man. There's something about doing the measuring myself that keeps me locked in. Feels like the tape is doing the thinking for you and I've caught it being off before. Plus I don't trust that it's gonna stay stuck on the bottom of a joist when I'm working overhead in the heat.
