Carpet over hardwood, that was my mistake on a 1,200 sq ft job

I laid carpet over solid oak in a Reno rental because the owner wanted it cheap, but after 6 months of squeaks and humps I ripped it up and did engineered hardwood instead, so has anyone else fought a client over flooring material only to be proven right?

Cheap now always costs more later. Six months of squeaks proved it. Carpet over good hardwood is a crime anyway.
