Watched my coworker go from 'quiet guy nobody asks' to team lead in 8 months, here is what actually changed
When Marcus started at our store 2 years ago he barely talked during shift meetings and people would talk right over him. About 8 months ago he started doing one small thing: after every meeting he'd send a 3 line email to our boss saying what he was going to do that week and then he'd do it. Last month he got promoted to team lead over two people who had been here way longer, and our district manager straight up said the follow through emails were why. I asked him about it and he said he got the idea from a podcast, nothing fancy. Has anyone else seen someone move up just from being the person who actually follows through on stuff they say?
