TIL sending 10 cold emails a week for 3 months got me 4 interviews and one offer
I kept reading advice about networking and building a personal brand, but I never did any of it. Back in January I just started sending 10 cold emails every Monday to people at companies I liked. Most got ignored, which was fine. I wrote short notes, two or three sentences, asking about their work and if they had 15 minutes to talk. By week 6 I had my first real reply, and by week 10 I had two phone calls set up. Last Friday I signed an offer for a job I actually want. The weird part is none of it came from a job board or a recruiter, just me hitting send over and over. Has anyone else had luck with cold outreach, and did you tweak your message after the first few weeks?
Ten emails every Monday is the part people miss, most send a batch once and quit when nobody answers. Your two or three sentence notes worked because they were short and easy to reply to, long emails just get deleted. After the first few weeks I'd change the subject line and lead with something specific about their company, that's what got my reply rate up.
