Saw the same resume with and without a 5 line project list, and the callbacks flipped hard
A friend let me watch her job hunt from the sidelines for 4 months. First version of her resume had a 5 line block of side projects squeezed under her last job. She sent 60 apps and got 2 phone screens. Then she cut that block down to one line and moved her numbers up under each job. Same field, same city, about 8 weeks apart. She sent 55 apps and got 11 screens.
I think the project list was burying the one thing that mattered, which was that she cut ticket times by 40 percent at her old job. Recruiters scan for numbers fast and her best numbers were sitting on page two. I'm now telling everyone I know to put the results at the top and kill the filler.
Curious if people here have seen the same thing. When did trimming a resume actually change your callback rate, and what got cut?
