Snowed in at O'Hare, ended up at a 24 hour diner with strangers
Last month my flight out of Chicago got canceled after 3 inches of snow, and I was stuck at O'Hare for 9 hours. Instead of sulking in the terminal, I walked to this diner near the airport with three other stranded people I met at the gate. We ended up playing cards and swapping travel disaster stories until 2am, and one guy even showed me his photo album from a solo trip to Peru. The flight never left, but I got a free slice of pie and a new friend who still texts me. Has anyone else turned a canceled trip into an accidental hangout session?

Wait, the guy just had a photo album of Peru on him at the airport? That's a weirdly specific thing to carry through security. I've been stranded plenty of times and the best I got was a guy showing me his crypto portfolio on his phone. Sounds like you hit the jackpot with that pie and a travel buddy who actually follows up.
