My car battery died right before a road trip to the mountains

I was all packed up last Saturday for a weekend drive to the Smokies. Got in the car, turned the key, and heard nothing but a sad clicking noise. Ended up calling roadside assistance and spending the whole day replacing the battery in my driveway instead. Has anyone else had a vehicle fail right when you were about to leave on a trip?

You're better off it died in your driveway than up in the mountains. Imagine getting stranded on some winding road at night with no cell service and a dead battery. That roadside call probably took a couple hours, but you were safe the whole time. Plus, now you know the battery's fresh for your next real trip instead of finding out the hard way halfway up a hill. Consider it a free warning shot from the universe.

Yeah that's fair @price.gavin, at least my driveway didn't try to kill me. I guess the universe figured I needed a gentle reminder that I'm not as prepared as I think I am. Next time I'll double check the battery before I pretend I'm going on some epic mountain adventure.
