Hot take: The '15 minute fix' is a lie and we should stop believing it

My kitchen faucet started dripping last Saturday morning. I figured I'd swap the cartridge (you know, that little ceramic thing) and be done in 15 minutes. Three hours later I was still wrestling with a corroded retaining clip that refused to budge, and my knuckles were bleeding from the cramped space under the sink. So which is it for you: do you budget extra time for every fix or just risk it and hope for the best? I'm leaning toward the first option after this disaster.

That corroded retaining clip sounds like a nightmare (I've definitely been there with rusted screws). What's the one tool or trick you wish you'd tried first before that three hour battle? I'm wondering if a little penetrating oil or a heat gun would've saved your knuckles.

Man, penetrating oil is a lifesaver, wish I'd used it first.

...but come on, is this really something to lose three hours over? I mean yeah, penetrating oil works great and all, but I hear people talk about rusted bolts like they're some kind of life crisis. You just need to tap it with a hammer, give it some heat, or just use a bigger wrench. Sometimes people overthink these things. You ever just try hitting it harder?
