Canceled my trip to Austin with 24 hours notice, hung out with a stray cat instead

I was all packed for a weekend in Austin to see an old friend, but Friday morning my truck's radiator cracked and the shop in Tulsa said I'd be stuck until Monday. So I canceled the whole thing, refunded the motel, and ended up at my dad's place where this gray tabby kept circling the porch while I reworked the engine. Has anyone else had a broken plan turn into a weirdly better afternoon, or was I just desperate for company?
