Signed up for a $99/month accounting tool and it actually paid for itself in 2 months

I was using spreadsheets to track expenses for my side fintech consulting gig and kept making mistakes. Switched to Bench Accounting at $99 a month and they caught $600 in tax deductions I missed last quarter. Anyone else find that paying for bookkeeping software or service actually saves you money in the long run?

You ever have one of those moments where you realize how much money you've been leaving on the table? I feel your pain with the spreadsheets. I've been doing my own books for my flooring business for years and I know I've missed stuff too. It's not even that the spreadsheets are bad, but when you're juggling ten different receipts and trying to remember what's a write-off, stuff just slips through the cracks. That $600 is a good reminder that sometimes spending a little on help can save you a lot in the long run.

Respectfully push back on that @brian_smith6. I know a guy who used one of those services and they "found" deductions he could've claimed himself if he'd just kept better records. Seems like they profit off people not staying on top of their own stuff.

Wait, they actually found SIX HUNDRED bucks in deductions you just missed? That's wild - I figured these services were just for keeping things organized, but getting that much back in year one is crazy. I might have to give their tax review a try since I'm probably leaving money on the table with my bare bones spreadsheets too.
