I used to think open banking was just hype, but a demo in Vancouver changed my mind

Last Tuesday, I went to a small meetup for early-stage founders in Vancouver. A team from a new startup, BridgeAPI, gave a live demo. They showed how their product could pull my data from two different banks into one budgeting app in under 30 seconds, with my clear permission each step. I'd always heard the talk about open banking rules coming, but seeing a real, working tool built here in Canada made it click. It wasn't just theory anymore. That single demo showed me the practical use case is already here. Has anyone else seen a Canadian fintech demo that actually shifted their view on a big trend?

Honestly, I was in the same boat thinking open banking was all talk. What was the demo like, did they show any specific apps? Seeing it actually work with real banks here makes it feel way less like some future thing and more like something we can use now. I guess I just needed that real example to get past the buzzwords.

Tbh I needed the demo to understand my own bank app.

I read a similar article about that Vancouver demo, and it really did make the whole concept seem much more real.
