Worst day this year. Boss sent me to a job with wrong tools.

Got to a house in Fresno with a broken ladder and no compression fitting tool. Customer watched me struggle for 20 minutes then just cancelled. Anyone else get thrown into jobs without the right gear?

That 20 minutes of struggling is brutal, especially with the customer watching. Your mileage may vary, but I've found that calling the customer before you show up to confirm access and any special requirements can sometimes catch stuff like needing a specific tool they might have on site.

Oh man, that's such a good tip! I started doing that too after I showed up to a job once and the customer casually mentioned they had a specific keycard system I didn't know about, saved me a ton of headache.

Honestly I used to think it was overkill to call ahead, like just show up and figure it out, right? But one time I rolled up to a commercial job and the gate code they gave me was wrong, wasted a whole hour waiting for someone to let me in. That changed my mind real quick. Now I always shoot a quick text or call before I head out, saves me from looking like an idiot in front of the customer. It's one of those little things you don't realize matters until you get burned bad.
