Showerthought: a delivery of 12 whole hogs from a farm outside Des Moines saved my slowest week
Last week my case sat half empty and I was digging into savings to cover the shop rent, then a farmer I know called about 12 hogs he needed moved quick and I broke them down over two long days. My regular Saturday crowd cleared most of it by noon, and one guy drove 45 minutes from Ames after his brother told him about the pork chops. Honestly it got me thinking about how one good farm connection can carry a whole week, so where do you all find small farms to work with when the big suppliers leave you hanging?
