Dropped $340 on a used bandsaw off a guy in Euclid and it's the best money I ever spent, fight me
Bought a 20 year old meat bandsaw at an auction in Euclid for $340 and half the guys at my shop said I got took. Took it apart in my garage, new blade, new guide bearings, maybe $60 in parts total. It runs cleaner than the $3,200 unit the shop bought new two years back. I break down whole hogs on it now, cut through a shoulder in under a minute with no wander. The cheap plastic guard cracked the second week so I bolted on a piece of stainless I had lying around. Point is the old iron holds up if you're willing to turn a wrench. Buying new is fine if you got cash to burn but a fixer upper will outlast it. What's the last used tool you got that turned out better than new?
Considering 20 years of use for $400 total versus buying new, I bet that motor's on borrowed time and when it dies you're hunting for obsolete parts nobody makes anymore. Show me a 5 year parts warranty on your auction special and then we'll talk.
