Unpopular opinion: I switched from a Leuchtturm1917 to a basic Moleskine for my bullet journal last month

I mean, the Leuchtturm has more pages and that dot grid is nice, but the paper is so thin my Tombow Dual Brush pens bleed through like crazy. The Moleskine paper is thicker, so I can actually use markers on both sides of a page without it looking messy. Has anyone else picked a notebook just for better paper, even if it costs more?

My 2018 Leuchtturm still holds up fine. The paper changed a few years back and it's just not the same now. I've got a stack of half-used ones I won't finish because the ghosting drives me nuts. Switched to a Stalogy editor's series and never looked back.

My friend's pens bled through her Leuchtturm too.

Yeah I was the same way, always thought Leuchtturms were the best for fountain pens. Then my favorite ink, just a basic Pilot blue, feathered like crazy on a fresh page. Seeing @tylerj22 mention the bleed through thing too really sealed it for me. I switched to a Midori notebook and the same pen writes totally clean, no ghosting at all. It's a bummer because I love the look of Leuchtturms, but the paper just can't handle wetter inks.
