My old notebook versus my fancy new one after 6 months of bullet journaling

I had to decide between sticking with my cheap composition notebook or buying a nice Leuchtturm1917. The composition notebook was $2 and worked fine for 4 months. But I finally caved and got the Leuchtturm last January for $20. Honestly the numbered pages and the index made a bigger difference than I expected for tracking my habits. But now I miss the simplicity of just grabbing any pen and not worrying about ghosting. Has anyone else gone back to cheaper notebooks after trying the expensive ones?

Tossed my Leuchtturm after three months and went back to a $1.50 Muji notebook. The numbered pages are nice but not worth the stress over ghosting and bleeding. Now I just grab any pen, write messy if I want, and don't care about perfection. Way more fun honestly.

A buddy of mine spent $40 on a fancy notebook and barely wrote in it because he was afraid of messing up. After a year he just threw it out empty and now uses those cheap composition books from the grocery store. Says he writes way more now because he doesn't care if his handwriting is ugly or if some ink goes through the page. More power to him honestly.

$40 for a notebook? @susan_wright34 your buddy spent more on that thing than I spend on groceries some weeks, and then just tossed it empty? That's wild but honestly I get it, the pressure of a fancy notebook makes you freeze up. He probably saved money in the long run by switching to those cheap grocery store ones.
