My monthly log changed after I added a 'reset day' on the 28th

Back in March I kept failing my weekly reviews, always skipping them on Sunday. So I started putting a big red circle on the 28th of every month in my monthly log, nothing else, just that circle. That day I spend 20 minutes redoing my future log and clearing out all the stale collections. By June my spreads looked completely different, way less clutter and I actually trust my rapid logging again. Has anyone else tried a fixed reset date that isn't the 1st, or do you just let the month end happen naturally?

Doesn't the 28th just become its own kind of first, though? I tried something similar last year, marking the 25th as my cutoff, but I found I was still carrying the same clutter forward, just rearranged by a different date. For me, the real change came when I stopped forcing a clean slate altogether. I let the end of a month happen when it happens, even if that spills into the 3rd or 4th, and that took way more pressure off than any circled number could.
