My bullet journal turned into an art project and now it's useless

I got caught up in all the Instagram posts with perfect lettering and color schemes. Now I spend more time picking washi tape than writing down my tasks. The whole point was to keep track of my life, not to create a masterpiece. It's just become another thing on my to-do list that I avoid.

Switched to a cheap notebook and a normal pencil when my own journal got too fancy. Stopped using markers, stopped trying to make pretty layouts. If a page gets messy, I just turn to a new one. The only rule now is that I have to write one real task down each day, even if it's just "buy milk". It actually works again.

Funny how that works for some. Personally found the fancy markers and layouts made me want to open the thing more, like it was something to enjoy instead of another task. A pretty page can feel less like homework, you know? Messy pages just made me quit, but a decorated one kept me coming back.
